Our research focuses on understanding the biochemical and biophysical processes of microbes by using numerical modeling tools. We are interested in modeling the life cycle of bacterial biofilms including their formation and detachment processes. We apply and develop continuum mathematical models (but not limited to) for describing the biosystems in combination with experimental investigations (in cooperation with our project partners). For achieving accurate and robust numerical modeling results, we also study and develop modern advanced numerical methods for solving mathematical models. Especially, solving the advection dominated reactive mass transport equations and modeling the fluid-structure interaction problems are the most challenging ones. Above all, our research can be categorized as two main interactive parts: a) numerical modeling of microbiological systems and b) development of new numerical methods.
