Educational Contents at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Environmental Physics

In our classes, we teach fundamental knowledge in fluid mechanics, groundwater hydraulics and solute transport, but also methods for the mathematical modelling of flow and transport processes. The taught competences include understanding of principles in fluid mechanics such as pressure and velocity distribution, autonomous generation of computer programs with matlab, carrying out analytical and numerical simulations, and interpretation and evaluation of simulation results. Applications are also demonstrated in our classes. Those include analysis of flow in open channels, pipe networks, groundwater, and in other porous and fractured media, but also the analysis of transport of dissolved solutes in water.
